Westfalen Weser bundles municipal interests, invests in regional municipal utilities and is committed to innovative, climate-friendly solutions.
The goal: a sustainable energy future – networked, understandable and close to the people.
The task – creating clarity for all stakeholders
In the course of revising its logistics structures and introducing a digital inventory management system, Westfalen Weser Netz GmbH was faced with the task of clearly and openly involving all stakeholders and at the same time creating a sustainable basis for orientation and clarity. The aim was to develop a common understanding of key issues within logistics – such as storage locations, delivery routes, responsibilities and the organization of inventories. This resulted in a Big Picture that presents the entire logistics landscape in a structured and comprehensible way. It takes into account all key aspects, from stock levels and responsibilities to the geographical classification of locations. This created a visual basis that serves as a reliable tool both in training courses and in the day-to-day communication and further development of processes – clear in its message, helpful in its implementation and sustainably effective in everyday life.

The Big Picture shows the logistics processes at Westfalen Weser at a glance – comprehensible, structured and easy to grasp.
The implementation
Together with Westfalen Weser, a big picture was created that is precisely tailored to the requirements of the logistics sector. First, the central elements were roughly sketched in order to get a feel for the use of space in the picture and the arrangement of the main themes.

Based on this draft, the final image was gradually developed in further rounds of coordination. The focus of further development was on three central challenges, which were jointly structured and clearly visualized:
One focus was on the presentation of the delivery routes. The regular delivery routes were displayed chronologically so that it is clear at a glance on which days goods are moved. At the same time, the regional reference was taken into account in order to provide orientation about the delivery times in the respective catchment areas.
Another focus was on the question of which materials are stored at which locations. A clear legend makes it possible to see where certain goods can be found and who the relevant contact person is. This creates transparency and organizes access to materials efficiently.
The introduction of a digital inventory management system was also accompanied visually. The big picture makes it clear to everyone involved how the system works, how stock levels, delivery capacities and optimizations along the entire supply chain are sensibly utilized and where there is potential for increasing efficiency.
Click Picture
An interactive Click Picture was implemented as a supplementary tool. It enables current warehouse information to be stored, stocks to be displayed visually and information to be retrieved quickly, clearly and easily – an intuitive tool that provides clarity and effectively supports everyday logistics operations.
